Darius (*2004) began his studies at the age of four with Yeling Yuan at the Städtische Musikhochschule Herne. At 11, he continued his education with Benjamin Ramírez and studied at the Pre-College of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz with Prof. Ute Hasenauer. Since 2010, Darius has won numerous first prizes in national and international competitions: such as the DTKV Competition, Jugend musiziert, the Radda International Violin Competition, the Lions Music Prize, the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Città di Stresa in Italy, the Flame Competition in Paris and at the Hamburg Instrumental Competition, where he also received a special award. In 2016 he was invited to play for the then Federal President Joachim Gauck at Bellevue Palace. In 2018, Darius made his international debut with a tour of Italy and Switzerland, and in 2019 he was selected for the Federal Youth Orchestra. The young artist has already played as a soloist with renowned orchestras. Today Darius studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. He further refines his artistic training in master classes with Boris Garlitsky Patinka Kopec, Arabella Steinbacher, and Zakhar Bron. The Stretton Society’s ANTONIUS scholarship supports Darius’ studies.

Darius plays a very fine violin by Camillo Camilli (Mantua, 1739), a generous loan by a member of the Stretton Society.
